NFL Owners Approve Expansion To 17 Regular Season Games

The NFL Owners meetings are taking place this week, and on Tuesday they voted to officially expand the regular season to 17 games. Part of the deal also includes teams only having three preseason games.

In addition to previously announced opponents, the Steelers will also now host the Seahawks at Heinz Field in the upcoming season.

However, since the Steelers are scheduled to play the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game this year, they will still have four preseason games.

According to Steelers.com, "the 17th game team's schedules features teams from opposing conferences that finished in the same place within their division the previous season. The AFC was determined to be the home conference for the 17th game in the 2021 season."

The schedule for the upcoming season, which will include dates and times for games, is expected to be released later this spring.
